Hey Dean,

Are you going to have the Urban Photo Safari this year(2010)? I had a lot of fun last year and was hoping you were going to do it again this year. If you need help with anything, let me know.

Thanks,

Howard

Wow...do folks really go to bed at 10:00? I could never do that and get to sleep. I guess I have weird circadian rhythms :-)

As with most things, there is more to it than meets the eye. As mentioned earlier, this is run by one person. I have to collect all the votes and tally them. If I opened it up to anyone, I would have quite a few to tally. Believe it or not, it's takes a lot of time to collect the emails and put them all together. Also, I don't think it would be fair to people who might stack it in their favor. Someone could have 50 friends vote for their photos. Hidden names yes, but they would know their own photos to tell friends to vote. Would that likely happen? Probably not but, it keeps it fair.

If I had an easier voting system (such as an online check box. Believe me, I've looked into it but a suitable one doesn't exist) I might think about it. Another aspect is that it encourages people to come out and join us for the shoot. Which, is one of the main reasons for holding this. Yes, the contest is cool, the images great but, it's really about going out and spending some time shooting. Hope that gives you some insight into the reasoning behind it. Thanks for the comments.

Why only contestant voting? If you're hiding contestant names; why not let anyone vote?

It's right there in the post... deanolufson [at] yahoo [dot] com. It's missing the @ and .com piece to prevent spam bots from collecting my email address but, you should be able to put it together.
